Claude Monet was a famous artist in the 19th century. He founded the Impressionism movement and he was a central figure in the fields of arts during his days. His autobiography, Claude Monet by himself, is very relevant to artists today. His arts were based on the reality of his time which made his work very successful. His paintings were mainly based of real landscapes and later he concentrated on painting on changing lights on everyday matters. He painted pictures of train stations, water lilies, churches and skylines which made his work very famous. He fled to England from Paris due to Franco Prussian war in the early 1870 where he met Camille Pisarro and Auguste Renoir and other friends with whom they formed the impressionism movement. His impressionistic paintings were very famous in the 19th century and even today. His biography is therefore important to artists today because it indicates the importance of choosing the right theme and the right partners in any art. Through his cooperation with other artists such as Pisarro and the themes he chose, his paintings were very realistic and therefore become very important.

Various lessons can be learnt from Monets own biography, Claude Monet by himself. By writing his own autobiography, he eliminated cases of biasness in the content incase a different person had written it. The autobiography is therefore a self portrait using words where he analysis the most important events in his life. It is easier to understand Monets life from his autobiography and any reader will most likely take it to be a true story rather than when the autobiography was based on second hand information.
