a) Have you studied poetry before Do you like poetry Why or why not

I have studied poetry before from then until the present, it never failed to amaze me. I love poetry because it is a very artistic way of expressing human emotions and feelings. It brings me to different realms where I can be free and experience different things that I can only imagine. It also gives me different perspectives on life and human issues. The words of the poets paint pictures in my head that makes me understand the world and life better. I appreciate studying poetry so much because I dont only learn an art, but I also get to learn human nature.

b) Which poem from the Speaker and Voice handout did you like most and why

Among the poems from the Speaker and Voice, I like My Papas Waltz the most. I like it very much because in a very short composition, it managed to show the overflowing emotions of the speaker. It was a sad yet loving poem. The voice of the poem evidenced how the speaker treasured and respected her fathers love despite the pain that she feels. It was apparent that the speaker was not in a very good condition with her father. Yet, the voice was full of respect and fondness. I like it a lot because it is very moving. It reminds the readers of how we love our fathers despite their imperfections.

c) In Porphyrias Lover why does the speaker do what he does What does he say his reasons are

In Porphyrias Lover, the speaker did his actions to keep Porphyria for himself forever. He adored Porphyria so much and could not control his overflowing admiration to the point of losing his reason. His love was abnormal and sadistic because he had to resort to such actions just to keep his love by his side forever. Accordingly, he murdered Porphyria so he could preserve her beauty. He wanted her to be beside him for eternity. He needed to feel that Porphyrias beauty and grace are only dedicated to him. As a result of his blind love, he killed his beloved and kept her by his side.
